Make sure that the university you choose is in the right location for you. For example, if you hate living in the big city, see which universities are in smaller cities. At the same time, don’t be afraid to try living somewhere new. Life is too short to not live a little adventurously.
I am from Eldorado, which is in the San Angelo area. Being just far enough away from home encouraged me to branch out socially, but at the same time, I could easily drive home for a weekend to see the family.
My favorite place on campus is the Porter Henderson Library. It is a great place to focus on school work and make friends at the same time. There is something about studying together with class mates for a difficult test that really bonds people together.
I enjoy the opportunities I get to help students. Sometimes the process of applying to college can be confusing, especially for incoming freshman. Getting to be the person to help guide people through it all is joyful experience.
