Departmental Highlights

  • In addition to studying dramatic literature and acting, students get hands-on experience in stage design, playwriting and directing.
  • Students are encouraged to audition for six annual faculty-directed shows. Through these experiences, students become accustomed to and comfortable with the two campus theatres.
  • The ASU Modular Theatre is one of only six on U.S. college campuses to have its particular style that allows production groups to completely transform the look and feel of the stage. The Modular Theatre is used for musicals and dinner performances, while the University Auditorium is used for student-directed work.
  • The theatre program is technology-driven: students used the Vectorworks computer-aided design software program to design sets and lighting.
